ASU blanks Lane College in 34-0 victory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - After beating Southern last week, the Hornets came home and shut down the Lane Dragons for a 34-0 win.

Andrew Body completed 10 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Body also picked up 28 yards on the ground.

The Hornets scored early when Body threw a short pass to Randall King, who turned it into a 16-yard gain before stepping out of bounds. That set up Jamarie Hostzclaw with a 6-yard touchdown.

After kicking a field goal early in the second, the Hornets were in scoring position because of two prior penalty calls. Body was forced out of the pocket and gained 17 yards before finding Eric Horn for a 9-yard touchdown. The Hornets were up 17-0 at halftime.

The second half was no different for ASU. After an early field goal, the Hornets’ defense forced the Dragons to cough up the football, setting ASU up for its third score of the evening. The Hornets showed no mercy, scoring one last time on the ground with Ashton Ashford.

Alabama State held Lane to 93 passing yards and 89 rushing yards. The Hornets had a total of 278 yards. ASU improves to 2-0 and will head to Troy to face the Trojans in Week 3.
